MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - In the state of Michigan alone, there are more than 10,000 alcohol related crashes that take place with a .01 BAC or higher each year.

For any event, whenever alcohol is involved, it is suggested to make sure that you and your friends have a safe ride home.

Try to plan ahead and administer a designated driver, or reserve a taxi cab to pick you up. There are many taxi cab services available to you around Meridian Township to help avoid the dangers of drinking and driving.

Damon Voeller, owner and driver of the local Shaggin' Wagon, expresses the abundance of taxi's that are available at any given time. Voeller states, "If you've been drinking, you're not okay. You need to find some other way home."

Police advice to never operate a vehicle under the influence, or get in the car with someone who has been drinking. If you or a friend has had one too many, call a cab and find a safe ride home.
