MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Crowds gathered for the Chinese New Year celebration held at Meridian Mall this past Saturday. The Dragon Parade kicked off the event followed by a fashion show, dancers, special guests, musical performances and other cultural activities.

According to the Chinese Calendar, 2014 is the year of the horse. Chair of the Chinese Association and Event Coordinator Julie Jiang said the year of the horse means that "you will succeed when the horse arrives".

The Greater Lansing Chinese Association came together with more than 20 other Chinese organizations and sponsors in the Greater Lansing area to put on this annual event. Many families crowded around to embrace and participate in the Chinese New Year Tradition.
