MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Tuesday, Dec. 4, the Township Board held a hearing for the new Whole Foods store coming to Meridian Township.
Throughout the course of the process many residents have liked the idea of a Whole Foods store in Meridian, but haven't been sold on the location.
The main concern residents have had with the proposed location was safety due to high traffic and lack of sidewalks.
Treasurer Julie Brixie addressed the issue again last night. She said a lot of people are going to be walking and taking the bus to and from the store to shop or work. Brixie stressed the importance of fixing the sidewalks to make it safer for pedestrians.
She added, "I think what we're going to see is the neighbors frequenting the business and I want to make sure the neighbors have the ability to do that."
The board will be looking into fixing the sidewalk situation as they move along with the process of bringing Whole Foods to the township.
