OKEMOS - Businesses new and old are new setting up shop in Okemos.

Two months ago, the Persis Indian Grill opened in the Meridian Crossings Drive shopping center in Okemos. And after more than a decade at its Grand River Avenue location, American Home Fitness will be relocating to that same plaza in Okemos.

Restaurant manager Nathan Erinjeri said that the Persis Indian Grill is enjoying a steady stream of customers in its location.

“I think it’s very good, it’s right near the highway, it’s a major intersection so people can find it easily. It’s a nice spot. And Okemos has a lot of people who really like to eat Indian food, so we like to see them coming in,” Erinjeri said.

According to Peter Menser, Associate Planner for Meridian Township, the township has tried to strengthen its relationship with the business community in the last few years. Menser tries to get involved with new establishments as soon as possible to assist them with permits or other arrangements. Menser said this type of support will likely improve the business climate in the township.
