UPDATE: LANSING - As you can probably see from your home's window, winter time is upon us and as we move further into the season, winter storms are a growing concern. Residents all over michigan and the midwest should be prepared for storms and harsh winter chills. Here's what some residents said they do to combat the cold and stay warm.

Most people can make good decisions when the weather is cold and know how to stay comfortable in the event of a winter storm like wearing gloves and making sure your home warm and sealed. But turning that thermostat up high, can be rather expensive. Lindsey Wren for the Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs released in a statement that the department of treasury is now processing Michigan Home Heating credits for the 2012 tax year. This credit assists low-income customers with winter energy bills.

Whether you think its a good idea or not, the fact remains that the home heating credits are an available option for low-income Michiganders.
