UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Susan Schmidt, a face you may have seen around town, is a Democratic candidate running for the 69th District.
She has had some help from her family during the campaign.
Her son, Erik Schmidt, said, "Pretty much whatever our mom asks us to do. It started with a lot of door to door throughout the whole district. She tries to knock on as many doors as possible, but we think its effective to have family members our there. We are a little more credible then just some random person on the street."
"Yeah it's been a hectic summer but its been fun spending most of it with my brother and my mom. We've been going door to door, yard signs, everything," said her son Alex Schmidt.
When Susan isn't knocking on doors, you can find her at her campaign office planning her next move with manager Dan Opsommer.
"You know watching Susan go door to door, it would mean a lot for me to see that work pay off for her," said Opsommer.
And with the final results only a few days away, I asked Susan what a win would mean for her team.
"You know I want to win, but I have to tell you, I want to win more for the people that have helped me and supported me through this and my sons. Because they all have believed that I will be a voice that they want at the capitol. And I really want to do it for them," said Schmidt.
We'll see how the race plays out for the Democratic candidate for the 69th District State Representative.
