MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, MI - The 2020 Meridian Township Road Construction plan is well under way this summer. This plan includes 10.24 miles of rehabilitation work and 16.7 miles of preventative maintenance crack sealing work. The construction has been conducted in phases and began in June.
The Meridian Township Department of Public Works (DPW) and its consultants manage and oversee this project through the entire process, which includes bidding, inspection and construction of local roadwork, along with coordinating any other planned utility projects that come up. The asphalt contractor used is Michigan Paving & Materials and the concrete contractor is Lopez Concrete Construction.
A crushing project took place this week at Dawn Avenue and Skyline Court. The road work is now complete and the concrete contractor is making their way through three subdivisions to reinstall the concrete driveway approaches. They will be working in Hiawatha Park this week before moving to Ottawa Hills next week, and then at Skyline Heights the following week.
The next project that started this week was milling at Canoga and Kasey. The concrete work for the final two milling subdivisions has been completed and is awaiting the asphalt contractor. This is the current schedule as follows:
-Shoals and Shaker Heights received the final course of asphalt on 8/25/20 and 8/26/20.
-Wildflower Estates and Bird Strawberry Farms will be milled Thursday through Saturday (8/27/20-8/29/20).
-Paving for Wildflower Estates and Bird Strawberry Farms will begin sometime next week.
HOMTV will continue to provide updates on the 2020 Meridian Township Road Construction as they become available.
