UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the January 3rd Township Board meeting, the board members voted to extend the 2011 Deer Harvest into 2012 February. A total of 41 deer has been harvested last year and only one deer has been harvested this year.

Meridian Township's Parks and Land Management Coordinator Jane Greenway says, "We continue to get numorous letters of support for the harvest. Letters, emails, and phone calls and request to participate to hunt, so although only one deer has been harvested since 2012, the interest is still up."

Greenway says only few people were against the harvest and vast majority of residents support the program.
