UPDATE:
LANSING - March is near, which means Women's History Month is right around the corner and Michigan Women's Historical Center and Hall Of Fame is pretty busy getting ready for it.
"Womens history month is a very busy time here at the Michigan women hall of fame," said Emily Fijol, assistant director of Michigan Women's Historical Center and Hall Of Fame.
We have a new exhibit opening on March 14th. It's called Michigan women in STEM, which is science technology engineering and math," said Fijol.
That exhibit isn't just for the benefit of older women, but it's for the benefit of younger women as well.
"Its all about how girls can get involved in these areas and some of the exciting opportunities there are," said Fijol.
The centers celebration for Women's History Month isn't just limited to exhibits.
"We also have a women's history month reception, it's also March 14th," said Fijol.
With that reception, they recognize women from the hall of fame.
We unveil the plaques for the 2012 women's hall of fame inductees. And some of those members will be here as well attending the event, " said Fijol.
A lot of hard work and planning went into the museums exhibits.
"It takes a lot of time for us to create these new exhibits. Usually planning begins a year in advance with the actual work commencing at least half a year before the exhibits opening," said Fijol.
Including lots of financial planning, but to be able to show the history of women in Michigan, that's all that matters.
We have to fundraise for every exhibit we create. It's an intensive fundraising process, but it's what helps us share the story of Michigan's women's history," said Fijol.
The center has already began to show exhibits.
