Township Board Discusses Major Goals for 2020

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - With the start of the new year, the Meridian Township Board has moved forward with approving the Township 2020 Goals.

One of their major goals is the accountability for this year’s road funding plan. This plan was also presented to the Board in early December of last year.

The Board also revisited these goals at the January 7th Township Board Meeting such as: playing a more active role in the redevelopment of the Village of Okemos and Downtown Haslett areas, allocating funds for a new ladder truck, expanding solar energy, and connecting the Township’s pathway system.

Township Treasurer Phil Deschaine appreciated these goals and explained how they can expand upon one of them.

“An interesting goal of ours, I think it is going to require more work and more effort on the Board’s part than it first appears, enhance Township diversity and inclusion that promote equal opportunity in the workforce.”

“I think we purposely made that a very dense goal, but you could actually expand that to several goals if we wanted to be more specific.”

Township Supervisor Ronald J. Styka also requested for location changes to accommodate for new brand signage near the Township’s Municipal Building.

The Board voted unanimously to approve these goals for 2020.
