LANSING - The Michigan State Primary Election is on Tuesday, August 4th. The polls will be open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. Voters at the polls must show a picture ID or sign an affidavit that they are “not in possession of a picture ID” before they are allowed to vote.
For in-person voters, they have 6 ft. social distancing markers as well as face masks in place, although face masks are not required by the state for voters they are strongly encouraged to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Voters that arrive without face masks will be isolated but will still go through the voting process.
Due to construction at Haslett Public Schools, voters in three Haslett precincts in Meridian Township will be temporarily co-located at other precincts just for the August Primary election. To find precinct locations and other voter information visit the Township website.
Same Day Voter Registration Request Deadline:
A voter who registers to vote on Election Day by appearing in person at the Meridian Township Clerk’s Office is eligible to obtain an Absentee Voter ballot until 8:00 pm on Election Day. Residents must vote their ballot in the Municipal Building.
All voted ballots must be returned to the Clerk’s Office by 8:00 pm on Election Day, August 4th. Voted Absentee Ballots can be returned to the Clerk’s Office in a number of ways:
-Dropped off in one of the 24-hour white mailboxes outside the Municipal Building
-Dropped off in person at the "Election Center” located within the Town Hall Room of the Municipal Building
-Dropped off in person to the Meridian Township Clerk's Office counter inside the Municipal Building
If you have an Absentee Ballot but don’t plan to use it, you spoil it at your precinct polling location and then vote regularly.
