UPDATE:
LANSING - You'd probably recognize their blue patrol cars from a mile away, but what else do you know about the Michigan State Police?
The MSP is celebrating it's 95th anniversary.
For the last 30 years, Inspector Gene Adamczyk said he's been proud to work his way up the ranks--something he's wanted from a young age.
"I said, I'm gonna be a trooper...I figured that the troopers were a cut above," said Insp. Adamczyk.
He said this after he saw a trooper peel-out in a powerful, blue patrol car.
The relationship between the public and the state police has always been complex and shifts as technology changes.
That's why they're celebrating things a little differently this year, with a Facebook birthday party. All month long, Ron Leix, from the MSP Public Affairs office, has been posting historical facts, pictures, and videos to the MSP Facebook page.
"The public is on social media and you have to be where the public is at," said Leix.
