UPDATE: LANSING - Jurors found Connor McCowan guilty of second degree murder, which means McCowan killed Andrew Singler, but "not by poison, lying in wait, or any other willful, deliberate, and premeditated killing."

Sentencing for McCowan is expected to be held Nov. 6. This will be the day McCowan finds out how many years he will serve in prison.

The amount of the years will be calculated through a point system that incorporates different variables in the case. The points will be totaled and put into a table to determine the amount of years McCowan will serve.

ORIGINAL STORY: LANSING - Jurors have reached a verdict in Connor McCowan's murder trial.

The Okemos teen is charged with killing Michigan State University senior Andrew Singler back in Feb.

The fight between McCowan and Singler began with a text message conversation, which escalated to a physical fight. During the dispute, McCowan had a pocket knife and stabbed Singler.

The defense is arguing McCown acted in self defense.
