UPDATE:
EAST LANSING - In a very uncommon motion, the township board reconsidered their vote on a hot topic issue.
The week before the Township Board meeting, Trustee Veenstra gave notice to the clerk's office that he was going to offer a motion to rescind the previous action that he had voted against, The Lodge's Phase II MUPUD and Wetlands Use Permit.
At the meeting, the board voted to rescind the vote and then passed the MUPUD and Wetlands permits in a 4-3 vote. However, that doesn't mean the development will begin.
"Now, there was a third motion, or action, that was required for the project to go forward and that was a special use permit for buildings greater than 25,000 square feet. That had been tabled previously so that was taken off the table, voted on and failed," commented Township Manager Gerald Richards.
For now, The Lodge's Phase II development cannot move forward without the approval for the Special Use permit but will be voted on again at the next meeting.
