MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - If you are traveling down Kinawa Drive, expect delays for at least another two weeks.
Construction on the portion between Okemos and Dobie Roads includes asphalt milling and paving operations.
"We are just fixing the bad spots in the road, mostly on the edges where they gave way after the traffic went through. There's no gravel or sand underneath the asphalt, so the clay just lefts it sit down and create potholes," said construction worker, Zac Johnson.
The construction is being partially funded by Michigan State University since the asphalt being used is part of an experiment to save energy, which is funded by a grant.
A requirement of the grant funding is that there is some asphalt testing. The top course paving of the road will be delayed two weeks to accommodate that testing.
