HASLETT - Haslett's girls basketball team has gotten off to an impressive start.
After crushing Eaton Rapids 63-21 Haslett headed to Okemos for a rivalry game.
This game was no different for Haslett.
With two girls ranking in the top 100 players in the state, Makenna Ott and Mackenzie DeCook, the vikings controlled the majority of the game.
Haslett went on a 10-0 run to start the game, and the first quarter finished with a 24-5 Haslett lead.
The Vikings displayed their skills throughout the rest of the half.
Ott lead with 15 points closely followed by DeCook with nine.
Anissa Whims had 5 points for Okemos.
Okemos looked a lot better in the second half but still could not stop the Haslett offense.
In the end Haslett would take the 54-12 victory over the Chiefs.
"Haslett's a very good team," Okemos Head Coach Tyler Hursey said. "They put a lot of defensive pressure on us and we didn't handle it that well tonight and we just gotta improve on that."
"We are so fortunate to have so many kids that have as much experience as we do," Haslett Head Coach Bob Currier said. "That's a big advantage this time of year but if we don't get better it doesn't matter. We have to get better."
Both teams will continue play on Dec. 12.
Haslett will be home against Mason and Okemos will travel to Lansing Everett.
