UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Halloween is just a couple days away, and the fun has already started! This past weekend, the Meridian Township Fire Departments, Police Department, HOMTV studio, and the Harris Nature Center held open houses. It was said that a record number of people were in attendance, over eight-hundred, specifically.
Families came out to decorate pumpkins, go for a hayride, see how TV is produced, look inside fire trucks and ambulances, take a walk through funhouses and forests, and of course, eat donuts and drink apple cider.
The Harris Nature Center raffled off three prizes - a kayak, snow shoes, and cross-country skis. The raffle money raised will go toward local school field trips to the Nature Center, where kids can see and learn about different plants and animals.
Firefighter, Bob Caretti said that the open houses give the community a chance to come out, have fun, and meet local firefighters and police officers. He said that hundreds of people went through the firehouse on Haslett and Okemos Road.
These open house events occur annually prior to Halloween. All are invited! So, come out to the HOMTV studio, the police station, the Harris Nature Center, or any of the fire stations for some good Halloween fun for the whole family.
