MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Wood's Okemos Marathon has been around since 1959. And so has it's tradition of being a full service station.
John Wood, owner of the business, has been working at the station since he was thirteen years old. When his father passed away, the business was kept running.
Complete with tow service and vehicle repair shop, when one pulls up to the station, they are greeted with a smile by one of the station's employees. And one of these employees could be Wood's Okemos Marathon's very own Roger Harris.
Having worked at the station for sixteen years, Harris has been in the full service station business for nearly his whole life. And it seems he is the star at Wood's.
"Roger, he is the man here at Wood's Okemos Marathon," said Wood. "Everybody knows Roger. Everybody loves Roger. He has a great rapport with people, and it doesn't matter who you are, when you meet Roger you become his friend. He just gets along with everybody."
And Harris has no plans to quit.
"As long as I feel as good as I feel now, I'll be- I'll still be at it," said Harris.
