MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Governor Rick Snyder has signed new bills that will change the rules regarding housing foreclosures.
One of the more heated provisions of the bill deals with the fact that a person can no longer challenge a decision from an inspector if the house is deemed to be in such bad shape as to warrant a foreclosure.
"If you take someone's most important asset, you should be able to prove three things: you own the debt, there is a real deficiency, and that you follow the laws of the federal government," said Ingham County Register of Deeds, Curtis Hertel, Jr.
The law is scheduled to go into effect by January 10th, 2014.
