UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Township will vote to change the language of these ordinances to match state law.
This way, the 55th Court judges have more flexibility prosecuting under Township law.
It also giver them the opportunity to hold time in jail over violators.
Chief David Hall of the Meridian Township Police Department says that the ordinance changes give the judges more flexibility and that changing the ordinance would bring in a greater portion of money collected from fines to Meridian Township.
