James was raised in Webberville MI and shortly after high school he joined the army and learned quite a few life lessons while serving. After his stint in the service he worked as a welder and traveled the country as a skilled tradesman. Then one day he figured ‘what the heck, I got the GI Bill, might as well use it.’ and promptly moved home and started his college career, four years later he received his bachelor’s degree in history from Michigan State University.
