Demetria Bias is a rising senior at Michigan State University majoring in Journalism witha minor in broadcast. She started her Spartan journey in the fall of 2018. Born in Detroit, Mi, her passion for having a voice for her community grew quickly as her parents instilled strong values and morals within her. This led to her joining the MSU Chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists her freshman year. Her leadership capabilities led her to become the Fundraising Chair of the Michigan State University Chapter of NABJ for the 2019-2020 school year and the President for the 2020-2021 school year. During the fall 2019 semester, Demetria interned at Power 96.5FM, #1 for Hip-Hop and R&B. After being a phenomenal intern, she accepted a position as an on-air personality. Demetria also worked as Podcast Intern for the NABJ Student Multimedia Projects at the first ever virtual NABJ Convention. As a junior at MSU, she worked as the Director for Diversity and Inclusion for Vim Magazine, a student-led publication at MSU. Her post graduation plans include her striving to become a producer/screenwriter for a television show and continuing to be a voice for her community.
