Hydrant Flushing Has Begun

Hydrant Flushing Has Begun

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - From the north side of the Township to the south, hydrant flushing has begun.

The Meridian Township Department of Public Works will be flushing about 2,200 hydrants to test for flow and operations.

The process of flushing also allows any repairs needed to be recorded.

During the flushing, large amounts of water flow through the pipeline which could result in discolored water due to harmless mineral deposits that settle in the water.

Avoid running water in your home to ensure discolored water will not enter your pipes. If discolored water does enter your pipes, run your faucets for five to 15 minutes until the water is clear.

Do not do laundry during flushing in your area. The discolored water can stain fabrics.

For more information, contact the Meridian Township Department of Public Works at 517-853-4440.
