UPDATE: OKEMOS - The Meridian Township Fire Department recently promoted a Captain to Battalion Chief.

After starting out as a firefighter 22 years ago, Paul McGarry has made his way up the ranks and landed himself the Battalion Chief title. As one of the two chiefs, he will face new challenges and duties with the job.

McGarry explains how he will go on to deal with day-to-day operations, like schedules, and making sure everyone has what they need.

Though his duties have changed, Chief McGarry's urge to help people remains to be his favorite part of the job.
