New Signs Unveiled in the Meridian Historical Village

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Historical Village just unveiled five new signs that will give visitors an even deeper look into the area's rich history.

The signs have facts and pictures describing the buildings within the historical village as well as life back in the early 1800s. People can now get detailed information about the village even when there are no volunteer tour guides available.

"I think they are very important because our historical village is so fantastic, but as they mentioned it is run mostly by volunteers. So volunteers can't be here at all times yet we want people to understand the history," said Meridian Township Park Commissioner, Courtney Wisinski.

The signs have information about everything from what school was like for early settlers to the importance of trade and commerce at the time.

Wisinski hopes that the signs will bring more people and excitement to the historical village.

Meridian Township's Parks and Recreation Department partnered with the Friends of Historical Meridian in creating the signs, and the Haslett-Okemos Rotary Club donated the funds.
