They went through the first round process. Two different committees interviewed, including the committee that made up of fire department members. We'll make a decision here in the coming week as to who we want to bring back for a second interview, which will occur on June 1st. We have five outstanding candidates, three external and two internal. The two internal have been with us for a combined 42 year. And we have three external candidates, two of those who are current retired chiefs of departments. So, we have an outstanding group, out of there will come a stellar candidate to lead our fire department going forward."
The new Fire Chief is expected to start in early July. Currently, Lori Schafer serving as the Interim Fire Chief following the retirement of Fire Chief Fred Cowper after almost 20 years of service to the community.
