Site Plan Review Appeal of Haslett Marathon Redevelopment Tabled

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the Wednesday, April 25th Zoning Board of Appeals meeting, there was an agenda item to discuss a request to appeal the approval of Site Plan Review to redevelop the Haslett Marathon gas station at 1619 Haslett Road.

The project would construct a gas station with a convenience store and motor vehicle repair shop as well as a pump canopy.

The reason for the appeal is because Shop Town owns the land adjacent to the project and will be affected by the project if it goes forward. As well, the appellant points out that the Site Plan doesn't meet certain Site Plan Review criteria. For example, the Site Plan failing to satisfy the traffic and circulation requirements, and not properly addressing all of the storm water drainage facilities.

The appellant came forth Wednesday night and asked for the case to be heard a different time when the full board is present.

In regards too hearing the case, the appellant said he wants to emphasize the important of having the full dialogue of all of the boards collective wisdom.

The board voted to table the request to appeal the approval of Site Plan Review to redevelop the Haslett Marathon gas station at Haslett Road due to the fact that the entire board is not present.

What specific day the case will be reheard has not been established yet.
