Township Board Discusses a Concept Plan: The Grand Reserve of Okemos

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the Township Board meeting on Tuesday, March 20th, the Board discussed a concept plan for The Grand Reserve of Okemos.

The Grand Reserve of Okemos is a Mixed Use Planned Developement presented by DTN management for mixed commercial and residential l use. The development would take place between Central Park Drive and Powell Road North of W. Grand River Avenue and South of Newman Road. The development would be residential buildings, 40% being one and two bedrooms and 20% having three bedrooms. Each building would have one or two car garages.

On site, The Grand Reserve of Okemos would have swimming pool, multiple open spaces and green areas, dog parks, and a public park.

Many board members spoke on the topics and agreed that there was not really a reason to rezone this area.

Trustee Phil Deschaine said, the building of these residential areas appears to be too dense for this property.

Deschaine said, "I hope you bring something back to us that has more density closer to Central Park."

The Township Board recommend that the developer come back with new plans that fit the criteria they discussed.
