Okemos Stuns East Lansing

EAST LANSING, MICH. - Both Okemos and East Lansing Boys Basketball have seen their fair share of success this season. A cross town rivalry would come down to the last three minutes of play.

At the half the Chieftains and the Trojans were tied 31-31, and Okemos took advantage of a couple late fouls and turnovers by East Lansing.

However, the real conversation was East Lansing Power Forward Senior, and Michigan Commit, Brandon Johns, who sat out against Okemos.
Jordan Henry would lead the Chieftains with 31 points for the night, followed by Evan Thomas with 12 points.

With 11 seconds left in the game Okemos lead by two points, but as the Trojans were forced to foul to buy some time, Okemos pulled ahead.

“When we started the season we knew it was gonna have to be us and not any one. I think they are really starting to buy into the we and not me, and when that happens as a coach you get really excited, you know something special is about to happen,” said Okemos Boys Basketball Head Coach, Jeff Wonch.

The Chieftains are now tied for first place in the CAAC Blue.
