Kidde Recalls Fire Extinguishers

MICHIGAN - Kidde has recalled about 40 million fire extinguishers made as far back as 1973.

Meridian Township Fire Inspector Tavis Millerov said this kind of recall is "monumental."

Making this a prime example for why residents should be checking their extinguishers regularly.

“But, this is kind of a golden opportunity, that if you have an older fire extinguisher, you can get a free replacement for it," Millerov said.

This recall is due to a potential flaw that could prevent the product from coming out the can which could inhibit the user from putting out a fire.

Miller expresses the importance of checking your fire extinguisher.

“You only think about it when you need it type of reaction people have to it. That doesn’t impact me when in actuality, it very well could.”

Having an industry standard extinguisher is one step closer to fire safety.
