Lansing 501: Lansing House Takeover

Lansing 501: Lansing House Takeover

LANSING - It was no ordinary Thursday on the corner of Cedar and Shiawassee, because at the Lansing house, it was a 5:01 takeover, and it all started with a vision to connect and unite.

"Lansing 501 is a talent retention, non-profit organization that is group of random young professionals that come to together and are pairing with large and small corporations in the greater Lansing area that will showcase what Lansing has to offer after 5 o'clock that we started about a year and a half ago and it's to help showcase what Lansing has to offer," explained Lansing 501 Event Architect Gabriela Allum.

Presented by the Gillespie group, the 3rd Lansing 5:01 event of the summer took over the former corner bar, bringing an interactive showcase of culture, music, food, technology and art to Lansing stadium district.

Together technology and art weren't the only things setting the Lansing 5:01 event apart. Attendees were able to come and leave their marks.

Young coloring book entrepreneur and chalk artist Ryan Holmes is leaving his mark through art. "It's a great place that's right in the middle of the city there's a lot of people here. My book is targeting young adults and adults as well so there's a lot of people n here who I can reach out to and for. It's just a nice thing all around for me to be a part of the community," explained Holmes.

Young professionals from across the Greater Lansing area came out to show off their crafts and skills all the while connecting with the Lansing community.

"These events really bring the community together, and I think that's what community is. So many people with different interest and cultures coming together to celebrate Lansing," explained event attendee Anna Anderson.

Lansing 5:01 will be having two more events this summer, one on July 19, 2017, and August 3, 2017.
