MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - From crewing live call-in debates to following candidates on their campaign trails, HOMTV has been at the scene all year covering election news.

With Election night being one thing HOMTV staff and crew has been training for.

Bringing live results and coverage for their 2016 Ballot Meridian newscast to air on November 8th during the General Election.

HOMTV Creative Production Intern Ray Childs said the General Elections is the big day and something she has been waiting for, for months now.

"We had to learn the ins and outs of local election, and here we are at the General Elections also the same date as the Presidential Elections. There's a lot of excitement in the air," Childs said. "I feel very lucky to be around here during this time and during their award-winning election series that takes place here."

Rookie Reporting Intern Malcolm Keenon experienced his first election coverage as a reporters. And he said training was not what he expect.

"It's a challenge, and I always love a challenge," Kennon said.

After working and learning all about elections, HOMTV interns were able put their practice to use.

Junior Reporter Gabriella Galloway said this was a great experience and journalistic opportunity.

"The whole election season has been busy. It's overwhelming, but at the end of the day it's a good experience, and I learn a lot," she said. "It's exciting for everyone because we have been working for so many months to get to this, and the big night is finally here. It's our Super Bowl."
