In Years

INGHAM COUNTY - After almost 19 years, Stuart Dunnings III announced he would resign as Ingham County Prosector earlier this year. After months of campaigning and a primary election, two candidates are left hoping to be elected the next Ingham County Prosecuting Attorney on November 8th, 2016.

"When this opportunity came along, uhh I thought it was a way to tie together the threads of my career to bring me back to the prosecution, but bring in all the expertise and the experience I've had over the last twenty years," said Carol Siemon, Democratic Candidate of Ingham County Prosecutor.

Although both experienced Billie Jo O'Berry, Republican Candidate for Ingham County Prosecutor, believes she's the more qualified candidate for the job. O'Berry said, I'm very practical. Umm I've had the administrative experience, but I've had the practical experience over these last 30 something years that my opponent has not had."

Ingham County will also vote to elect a new Sheriff during this year's election. After 28 years as Ingham County Sheriff, Gene Wigglesworth announced his plans to retire. Now both candidates running are more than confident they have the experience to lead the Ingham County Sheriff's Office.

"I decided to run uhh due to the fact my experience there at the Sheriff's Office, I believe I would be an asset to the Sheriff's Office as the Sheriff," explained Eric Trojanowicz, Republican Candidate for Ingham County Sheriff.

Similarly, Democratic Candidate for Ingham County Sheriff, Scott Wigglesworth stated, "I think I've got thee knowledge, the spirit---the experience, and the education and I'm clearly the choice for---to be the next Ingham County Sheriff."

No matter who wins each election, all four candidates summarized that the relationship between the Sherff's Office and Prosecuting Attorney's Office is an important one.

"Working this police in general, specifically the Sheriff's Department is critical," explained Siemon."
O'Berry stated,"It's not just one person that makes the system work, it's all of us working together."
"And we gotta keep our communication open because they may have questions on the case or whatever the case may be," said Trojanowicz. Wigglesworth commented, "So there's a lot of working pieces to prosecuting a case an if we're not working together, then that's just going to make it that much more difficult."

All four candidates expressed confidence in their campaigns and are eager to celebrate their results on November 8, 2016.
