OKEMOS - Friday Sept. 30th female athletes from Okemos High School joined Master Fayette at Victory Martial Arts to learn a little more about being able to defend themselves.

Studies have shown that sexual assaults and attacks on females are 54 percent more likely to happen between the ages of 18 and 34.

“They're getting older, there at parties, there in social situations, there gonna be on campus. You just want them to understand that there are dangerous places, there are ways to defend yourself. Awareness. And if it comes down to it a confrontation, there are ways to protect yourself, said Okemos Golf Coach, Dan Stolz.”

Friday, the ladies learned a few tactics on how to be alert and also what they can do if they are ever in a situation where there may be potential violence.
