Local Road Repaving Update

Local Road Repaving Update

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The concrete sidewalk and curb work for the local road paving is underway, as of August 24, 2016.

After careful and extensive review of all 147 miles of local streets, the Township has developed a list of roads which have been selected and recommended for pavement work. Some of the local resurfacing locations will include Newton Road, Heather Circle (east of Park Lake), and the east half of Birch Row at Hagadorn. Ardmore Road, however, is rescheduled to be paved in 2017 as a result of a strong history of multiple breaks and leaking service to the water main lane.

A total of $689,900 has been allocated for local neighborhood street projects for the 2016 Local Roads budget. Since the start of the project, many roads have already been repaved: Park Lake location and Birch Row location.

Other roads like Newton, are still undergoing construction. At the North edge of Newton Road, there is about 500 feet of road which is not covered in Phase 3. The township is looking for ways to pave the remaining 500 feet.

Any mailboxes in the way of construction will be reconstructed back about 1 foot and will be reset in its proper place upon completion. Traffic will continue but, in some cases, single lane closures and flag control will be utilized. No parking signs will be posted on streets as necessary.
