Lansing Catholic Soccer Shuts Out
Haslett, 2-0

LANSING - Lansing Catholic soccer handed Haslett another loss, shutting out the Vikings, 2-0.

The Cougars took the lead early in the game with a goal by midfielder Chuck Plaehn.

Haslett creates some opportunities still in the first half, threatening after a Lansing Catholic penalty close to the Cougars' goal, but the goalie gets a hand and the defense kicks it out of reach.

Second half proved to be much more competitive, as the Vikings seem more put together and do an excellent job of passing and moving the ball around.

A foul against the Vikings in their own right corner puts them at risk again.

Lansing Catholic's Remy Collard crosses, Matthew Plaehn gets a slight touch on it, putting it to the side and directly in front of his brother Chuck, who runs in and kicks the ball in the air for his second goal of the night with 20 minutes left of play.

Haslett continues to pressure, but the Cougars' goalie had an exceptional performance keeping the ball from touching the net.

When Lansing Catholic's goalie couldn't get a hand on it, defender Mike Hollis took it out with a header that went over the goal, keeping Haslett scoreless.

The match ended with the Cougars topping the Vikings, 2-0.

Not only did Plaehn score both goals during this match, he also scored two in the Cougars' last match.

Haslett travels to Owosso at 6:30 p.m. on September 15.
