MASON - The Okemos Chiefs did all the right things, but it wasn't enough to beat the Mason Bulldogs Thursday, September 1st.

The Bulldogs defeated the Chiefs 7- 0 in their first non-conference game of the season at home.

The Chief's Head Coach Jack Wallace states," The team did a great job with competing and competed all night."

"We got the fumble recovery but came up a little short. I couldn't be prouder of how they competed and how they stuck together."

"What makes Okemos special is their chemistry," he said. "They do all the right things and are just great kids."

This loss was disappointing for Wallace but he says we live another day but come back strong.

Mason's Head Coach Jerry Van Havel says, "I'm proud of our kids cause they battled and fought."

"It wasn't perfect tonight and in the end we overcame some mistakes. Both teams played hard and pretty well."

Mason's Tight End Austin Willard No.49 (Jr.) scored the only touchdown of the night at 6:52 of the second half. Willard received the 25 yd. pass from Quarterback Brad Wilton No. 5 (Sr.).

What's next for both schools:

Okemos moves on to play their first home game against Skyline High School September 1st. This non-conference game kicks off at 7:00 p.m.

Mason continues their game action with Eaton Rapids High School September 1st at 7:00 p.m.
