Kellie's Consignments: New, Fresh and OPEN!

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - “You have to see it to believe,” the phrase Owner Kellie Murphy said when asked to describe the new location of Kellie’s Consignments. Kellie’s recently found a new home at 5000 Marsh Road, right down the street from their old location, 4800 Okemos Road.

The official opening date was this past Sunday May 1, 2016 and so far there has been nothing but good vibes since. “We love it, it’s been open for three days now and everyone loves it,” says Murphy.

The move was about an eight-month process and the new location is much bigger and will eventually offer more departments. “The opening was fantastic! We haven’t really had a grand opening yet we just put it out on social media and our Facebook page but we’ve had lots of people through and everyone just loves it,” says Murphy.

They did not have an official grand opening but customers can look forward to one in June once they are all settled in at the new location. “We’ve been working very long days,” says Murphy.

The location might have changed but it is the same Kellie’s, which functions as a retail and consignment store. They sell new and gently used clothing for both men and women, jewelry and accessories, furniture and home decor. “My favorite part (about the new location) is probably peoples reaction when they see it because it's different from anywhere anyone has ever been to shop. It’s like it’s own little mall but it’s not a mall at all. ‘They say oh my gosh this is so beautiful, I can’t believe you did it, it’s way better than your old store,” says Murphy.

For weekly deals and offers check out their Facebook page. “We just did an extra 15 percent off your purchase, we will probably have a deal for this weekend too,” says Murphy.

ORIGINAL STORY: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - With a tagline of “Expect the Unexpected,” that’s exactly what Kellie’s Consignments’ new store will offer in just a couple weeks once they move to their new location at 5000 Marsh Road. After an eight-month long process and million-dollar expansion, customers can look forward to a clean, organized, fresh and hip new store.

“We are moving into a much larger space, we will eventually be adding new departments. It is going to be the coolest place you have ever shopped at,” says Owner Kellie Murphy. The new location is a four-minute drive from the current location, 4800 Okemos Road.

Currently Kellie’s Consignments functions as a retail and consignment store, and charity operation. Kellie’s sells new and gently used clothing for both men and women, jewelry and accessories, furniture and home decor. They also offer estate sales for those who wish to downsize and various other clientele.

Consignors can sell their unused and gently used items to Kellie’s for cash. Murphy says money earned at Kellie’s Consignments goes right back into the community with nearly $400,000 put back into surrounding households last year.

During the transition, customers will still be able to shop at the current location until the opening date at the new location. The opening date of the new store will be announced next week along with a liquidation sale at their current location.

The new location offers many opportunities for the business and customers alike. “The location is very good, the flow of the building is going to be better, we will be able to add more things which will make it better, it's going to be awesome,” says Murphy.

The new departments that will be added within the next year include their own thrift store and a children’s department. “People that shop with us know that in our current location there are a lot of little rooms, in the new building the departments will be able to be a lot bigger,” says Murphy.

With lots in store for the new location Murphy says customers won’t leave disappointed, “You will leave there talking about what happened when you went to Kellie’s, I promise you.”

Murphy says the customers are to thank for making this expansion possible, “Thank you to our loyal customers for helping us make this happen and we hope to see you soon!”
