Potential Project Could Connect Trail
Between MSU and Lake Lansing

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Younes Ishraidi, Meridian Township's Chief Engineer said he hopes by the year 2018, Meridian Township will begin Phase I of the campus to lake trail. The project is expected to take three phases to complete.

The trail will run from Michigan State University to Lake Lansing.

Ishraidi said, "The trail concept makes a lot of sense for non motorized users, because it is the safest way for non motorized travel. You're not interfering with motorized traffic, and there are no conflict points."

The priority of the Township according to him is to close the gaps, and link Lake Lansing all the way to Hagadorn Road, right across from the Shaw Lane intersection.

"So essentially you get on the trail, and that's all you got," said Ishraidi.

If the project moves forward, the cost of Phase I of the project which will run from Hagadorn to Grand River will be $1.69 million.
