February 5th is National Wear Red Day

LANSING - According to the American Heart Association, heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year.

That is why they are urging everyone to support "Go Red Day" by wearing red on February 5th.

The American Heart Association encourages women to make sure they make their health their number one priority.

Not only should residents wear red to support women's health, but February is American Heart Month.

An estimated 85.6 million people in the U.S. are living with cardiovascular diseases, including heart attack, stroke, high blood pressure and chest pain.

"Go Red" also stands for:

G- Get your numbers of your blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose.

O - Own your life style by eating healthy and exercising.

R - Raise your voice and be an advocate.

E - Educate your family.

D - Donate your time or money.
