OKEMOS - Around twenty years ago, the Okemos High School band took delivery of a brand new inventory of band uniforms. they no doubt were sparkly, crisp to the touch, and smelled of progress. The Okemos High School Band is no longer excited about these uniforms.

The expected service life of school band uniforms is 15 years. Again, the Okemos High School band's uniforms are 5 years past that. They are tattered, torn, and worn thin.

It costs $375 to replace a full school band uniform, meaning that a completely replacing the entire inventory would clock in at $80,000. The band is appealing to the public for funds, and is taking donations.

Donations are tax deductible. For a donation of a full $375 for a new uniform, donors have the option of receiving an old uniform.
