Extreme Cold Prevention Tips

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - In order to stay warm when spending time outside this winter, have a plan and check the forecast the night before.

"Dress in multiple light layers of loose fitting clothing in order to avoid being cold. Also, it is recommended to take frequent breaks to warm up and if sweating, replace your clothing as soon as possible to avoid hypothermia," says Meridian Township Fire Inspector, Tavis Millerov.

If you begin to notice signs of forgetfulness, tiredness, drowsiness and low energy in the cold, it is recommended to get inside because hypothermia may begin to set in, says Millerov.
