DEWITT - The Lansing Sting is the newest semi-pro team in the Lansing area, and one of a few expansion teams introduced to the American Basketball Association in November of 2015.

Owner and coach Dave Williams helped create the eighth ABA team in Michigan to basketball players a chance to continue playing the game they love.

"I really started it because I wanted to help some of the guys I knew from Lansing try to further their basketball careers," Williams said after practice Tuesday night.

Williams, from the Lansing area, has 9 years of experience playing overseas and in semi-pro leagues after a collegiate career at Saginaw Valley State.

The team's inaugural season carries through the new year into early March.
