MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - As if Black Friday and Cyber Monday weren't enough, don't look past Small Business Saturday. American Express created "Small Business Saturday" between the other two major shopping holidays to support small business everywhere.

Only stores that accept American Express are able to participate. Soldan's Pet Supplies here in Meridian Township take American Express and participate during Small Business Saturday.

"Most years we don't do things with Black Friday so we decided to do Small Business Saturday because we are a small local business who wants to help the local shelters and economy," said Business Development Manager, Nikki Soldan.

American Express markets "Shop Small" by giving away shopping bags for consumers to use. Each local store gets to chose what typer of deal they will have on Small Business Satruday.

"This Saturday Soldan's Pet Supplies is doing an every 50 dollars you spend, you get a 10 dollar giftcard," said Soldan. "We figured buyers could donate it or give it as a gift if they didn't use it themselves."

Other local businesses that are participating include Playmakers, Pure Gym, We Love Kids N Dogs, Guidos Premium Pizza, Hampton Jewelers LLC and Bottoms Up. To view more, American Express has a list of participating stores on its website.
