Community Rallying Together to Raise
Money for 10 Year Old Boy

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Life has been quite the journey for 10 year old Will Goodale. Not only does Will have a smile that can light up any room, but he embraces each day with a fun-loving spirit and a grin from ear to ear.

You might imagine that Will lives his life like every average 10 year old...unfortunately, that's not the case.

Will was diagnosed with a brain tumor in June 2015.

Since then, he has undergone several medical treatments which continue to add up.

Now, the community is coming together to raise funds for his family.

"Its just an amazing community...we all care about each other and its just a good network of friends and we all just thought...we gotta do what we can," stated Cheri Riemer, friend of the Goodale's.

Riemer has been taking charge of collecting all the proceeds for the Goodale's during this difficult time.

"We kinda got a group of us together to brainstorm..."how do we raise some funds?" mentioned Riemer.

One of the ways the community has come together is by holding fundraisers for Will, such as the one occurring at Culver's in Okemos on Monday, October 5, 2015.

"Anybody that comes in and dines that night we're donating 20% of their sale to his family for his treatment," Owner & Operator of Culver's in Okemos Cory Chvala said.

And Culver's isn't the only business raising money for Will...the Blue Gill Grill located in Haslett is also donating 20% during their fundraiser.

"When you can do this for somebody that's not so blessed, you do it," Co-owner of the Blue Gill Grill Denise Warner mentioned.

In addition to those fundraisers, $10 t-shirts and $2 bracelets labeled "Where There's a Will, There's a Way" are also available for purchase.

Not only that, but a go-fund-me page is also created for individuals to donate.

"The way the community has come around them with thoughts, prayers, cards...its just fabulous to see and you know we just got a great community," Riemer says.

Since the fundraising began in August, the community has raised $20,000 thus far.

If interested in donating to Will during this difficult time...you can head on over to Culver's in Okemos on Monday, October 5, 2015 from 4pm-10pm or make sure to attend the fundraiser at the Blue Gill Grill on Monday, November 9, 2015 from 5pm-9pm.
