Facelifts

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Several Meridian Township roads will soon see some much-needed improvements.

The roads will undergo what the Ingham County Road Department calls "Hot In Place Recycling." This process involves heating the existing road with a series of two truck-drawn heaters. The pavement will then receive a new layer of asphalt one-to-two weeks later. Ingham County Road Department Managing Director Bill Conklin said well-traveled roads in need of repair will see those repairs come first.

"There are many streets in-need of resurfacing and rehabilitation. We're well aware of that," Conklin said. "But lower-volume streets and dead-end streets need to be trimmed from the program because they serve less traffic and less homes."
