MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Potholes and other parking lot issues will soon be smoothed over at the Meridian Township Municipal Building and the Service Center.

Electrical and pavement contractors will be on site to enhance the lot lighting and mill up the existing pavement in order to lay new pavement in both lots.

The project is expected to be complete by October 1st, but may cause some inconveniences with available parking.

"Basically the parking lot has far exceeded it's normal service life. If folk that drive in, potholes are consistent, lots of cracking, basically it was just time for a new surface. Again, you just have to periodically reinvest in your community and this is one of the assets that the Township Board has decided to reinvest in," said Derek Perry, Assistant Township Manager/Director of Public Works & Engineering.

When the south section of the parking lot (near the Meridian Historical Village) is complete, parking in the south lot will be required to finish the north area of the lot.

Until construction is complete, the Meridian Farmers' Market has temporarily been relocated to the Meridian Mall parking lot.
