Okemos Pointe Public Hearing a Hot-
Button Issue at Planning Commission
Meeting

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Okemos Pointe project continued to be a highly debated topic during the public hearings that were held at the August 10th Planning Commission meeting.

Representatives from T.A. Forsberg Inc., including President Brent Forsberg, showcased their proposal for a brand new apartment complex in Okemos near Jolly Oak and Okemos Roads. Following the presentation, residents were given a chance to share their thoughts on the project.

Okemos resident, Debbie Elliot, made her concerns about overcrowding in the area very clear.

"I don't understand why we have to cram so many people into an area," said Elliot. "I didn't sign on for that when I moved here [Okemos]."

Other concerns with the proposal were brought up by the Planning Commission that included a possible lack of parking spaces for the residential area.

While there was an opportunity for a vote on the project to take place, the commission decided it was in the best interest of the township to continue discussion at next Tuesday's Township Board meeting.
