MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township will be seeing a few new additions within the upcoming weeks.

The Meridian Township Parks & Recreation Department has been taking steps to implement walking signs all throughout Meridian Township.

The signs will serve as a kind of checkpoint, letting residents know about fun places within walking distance. The purpose of these signs is to encourage residents to walk more often, rather than getting in their car to drive such short distances.

As for the location of the signs, Parks and Land Manager Jane Greenway states, "They will be placed at schools in Haslett and in Okemos, at parks, and the library".

The Parks & Recreation Department hopes that these new signs will be effective, and will allow people to lead healthier and happier lifestyles.
