2-0, then 2-2. 5-2, then 5-5. Finally in the eighth inning, top prospect outfielder D.J. Davis came up to the plate with a chance to take the lead for good.

With the bases loaded and two outs, Davis smoked a line drive to left center field driving in two runs.

Lugnuts Lefty Tim Mayza came in to close things down in the ninth after Carlos Ramirez let up a single.

With one out, a grounder straight to second baseman Alexis Maldonado made for the game-clinching double play.

Starting pitcher Jesus Tinoco pitched a four inning one-hitter for Lansing, but the floodgates opened soon after.

Ramirez and Mayza gave stability in the clutch with a combined 1.2 innings and zero runs allowed.
